Call for Experts: BiodivRestore Knowledge Hub

In 2020, BiodivERsA (the precursor of Biodiversa+) and Water JPI (the precursor of the Water4All Partnership) jointly launched the “BiodivRestore” ERANET COFUND to support research on ecosystem restoration. A joint research call, co-funded by the European Commission, was launched, resulting in the funding of 22 research projects on the conservation and restoration of degraded ecosystems, including a focus on aquatic systems.

Building on the success of these funded projects, BiodivRestore partners are now establishing a pan-European Knowledge Hub on Nature Restoration. It will serve as a dynamic community of practice, adapting its structure and objectives over time to meet emerging needs.

About the Knowledge Hub

Its primary objective is to promote the integration and sharing of knowledge, research and technological excellence. In doing so, it will support countries in developing and implementing their National Restoration Plans, ensuring that they can meet the targets set out in the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030 and the Global Biodiversity Framework.

The Knowledge Hub will rely on the expertise of two task forces:

Task Force 1: Strengthening the implementation of the Nature Restoration Law.
Task Force 2: Advancing the Research and Innovation (R&I) Agenda.

Interested?

To apply, you must meet the following requirements:

Demonstrated scientific expertise in the field of Restoration and Biodiversity
Ability to work effectively in English
Good networking skills, and ability to work across cultures and disciplines
Availability to commit to the Knowledge Hub for a minimum of 1.5 days per month
Recent or active participation in Biodiversa funded project
Experience or interest in science policy and/ or science-society interface

The selection of experts will be completed by the end of March. The official launch of the Knowledge Hub will take place in Paris on 30 and 31 May, following the Biodiversa+ dialogue events on restoration law (28-29 May).
